Aretha Angcao

Aretha graduated cum laude with a degree in Speech Communication from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2003. In 2004, she was admitted into the Voice program of the same university and graduated with a degree of BM Voice from the University of the Philippines College of Music.

Having an affinity for traditional Filipino songs, Aretha entered the 2010 Kundiman Competition of the NBN 4 network and won first prize. She went on to sing for NBN 4’s weekly Sunday program Sining Gising in 2010. In the same year, Aretha was nominated in the 2010 Aliw Awards for the Best New Artist Category.

Aretha also joined the 3rd Madama Butterfly International Competition in Nagasaki, Japan and qualified in the semi-finals round in 2008. Also a theater practitioner, Aretha was one of the Royal Wives in the recent production of King and I by Resorts World Manila. She has also performed the roles of Nedda from “Pagliacci”, Minnie in “La Fanciulla del West”, and Mother Mary in “Martir sa Golgota” by Director and Actor Lou Veloso among others. Aretha also performed for the National Commision for Culture and The Arts’s 2015 TAOid Concert in Cebu with Mr. Joey Ayala.

Aretha is currently enrolled in the Juris Doctor program of the De La Salle University at Bonifacio Global City.  She also hosts Concert at the Park by the National Parks Development Committee at the Luneta Open-Air Auditorium every Sunday.
